St. Joseph Community Based
Organization (CBO) was initiated in the year 2001 by the Brothers of St.
Joseph together with the local community in Mweiga, Nyeri County.
Brothers of St Joseph through their
apostolate and close grassroots engagement, the founders built strong community
trust by upholding confidentiality and compassionate care. As households opened
up about their health and economic struggles especially during the height of
the HIV/AIDS crisis, the organization began coordinated home visits and
counseling to support infected and affected families.
Over the years, the organization has
grown into a community-driven platform delivering health and social support
programs aimed at reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS and other communicable and
non-communicable diseases. Its work focuses on household resilience, disease
prevention, psychosocial support, and economic strengthening, with a long-term
goal of contributing to healthier and more stable communities.
Today,
the organization serves communities across all eight sub-counties of Nyeri
County and seven Solio Settlement villages in Laikipia County through
partnerships and grassroots action. Guided by the motto “Console and Empower,”
it envisions healthy communities in Kenya and pursues a mission of providing
services that give hope, care, and support to communities in need.
St Joseph CBO is a community-based
organization in Mweiga, Nyeri County, committed to transforming lives through

participation, accountability, and local leadership. It also supports education
